Maya, Mike and Kari are BACK!!

We are soooooo happy to have Kari, Mike and Maya out for another visit! They came last April for a few days when Maya had her 1st birthday. And now they're back to hang with us for a few days for some island fun and silliness.

As is typical of Hawaiian autumns, we had crazy weather...from uber heat, humidity and no trade winds to torrential downpours all in two day's time. Crazy fall weather.

Luckily, we managed to squeeze in a trip to the zoo in between random climate shifts. Here are the sleepy flamingos in all their pink glory. They must know it's Breast Cancer Awareness Month!
Here's naked baby, Maya, dipping her hand in some icy-cold agua.
One of the pretty shade trees at the zoo...oh how we love thee!
Something spooked these elephants which certainly spooked us! They were running and trumpeting all over their enclosure. It was pretty amazing (and scary) to hear their low growls and violent stomping.
Maya didn't seem to mind the elephants and went to town on her yummy plate lunch. So yummy!
A very happy Maya and daddy Mike posing with a baby elephant statue. Too cute!
Snoozing rhino (with mynah bird buddy)
Here's Maya, transfixed by some bright (and loud) birdies.
Maya breaking the law! And loving it! Wild child :)
Mike, Kari, Maya, Peter, and Linda all on the path towards the tigers.
And the tigers were waiting for us. It was a little creepy how the tigers were watching the little kids playing on the swings and slides just across from their enclosure. Stalking some tasty snacks, maybe?
A cute tortoise basking in the sun.
We had a great time at the zoo and the baby tide pools, too. Maya is such a big girl and it's so much fun to have them out to visit. Love you guys!!
