Dancing Fleas*

Summer is the BEST in Hawaii! Nearly every weekend is one fabulous festival or another. What fun!!
Yesterday Mom, Will and I headed over to the 39th annual Ukulele Festival at Kapiolani Park right next to the Honolulu Zoo. Before we could go to the festival, though, we had to celebrate National Hot Dog Day over at Hank's Haute Dogs. (Get it? "haute"? haha)

We ordered four beautiful gourmet dogs with some foie gras french fries, hibiscus lemonade and lilikoi lime soda. Yummers!!

The park was PACKED with ukulele lovers. Our seats were a bit far back, but the music was everywhere. They had keiki groups, new masters and even Will's favorite, Ohta San (who basically wrote every single ukulele book out there and is just amazing to listen to).

Below is Ohta San with one of his students playing all the old favorites.
We walked around, ogled some of the most beautiful ukuleles ever (with price-tags to match) and enjoyed the colorful rainbow shower trees at the park. Ahhh....gotta love summer. :)
*Ukulele means "dancing flea" in Hawaiian. This is because of how quickly a player's fingers pick and strum at the strings. :)
