Oh-so-ONO!!

Ono is the Hawaiian word for "delicious "...and that word sums up nearly everything we did on day three in Maui. The Parinehs were super sweet and invited us to enjoy the most amazing Sunday Brunch in Heaven (a.k.a. The Grand Wailea Resort) with them. The spread was more than either of us could have imagined in a million years. They had everything from prime rib, to snow crab, to eggs benedict, to fresh malasadas (a hawaiian doughnut made of deep-fried magic). In the two hours we lounged and joked at the table, I'm pretty sure each of us had about 3 or 4 plate-fulls (at least).
The desserts were another spread alltogether and were (almost) too pretty to eat.

Good thing the seats were wide and comfortable, because none of us had any energy or motivation to move much.


Below: Parvin and I standing in front of the "fat lady" statue. We're pretty sure it was placed there to make everyone feel a little better about gorging on the ono food. We kept pointing to the statue saying, "well we might feel fat, but we're not that fat".


The rest of the afternoon we spent relaxing poolside with the adorable Parineh family. Once our food comas wore off, we gathered our strength to swim/float in the pool. We even went down one of the crazy waterslides!

Since we were feeling a bit sleepy, too, we waved goodbye to Parvin and her family and headed back to our hotel. Although we were still a bit full from our amazing brunch, we decided to visit (once again) our favorite food joint, Pita Paradise.
We ordered australian lamb gyros, kalua pig pita and their wacky dessert du jour to enjoy beachside to watch the sunset.



Although it's quite unlike us, we decided to eat our dessert first! Why not? We're on vacation!!Tonight's special was Baklava Ice-Cream Pie. Yes, those are layers of baklava between homemade Hawaiian vanilla-bean ice-cream. Unbelievably good.

It just doesn't get any better than this.
