Exploring up up UP!

The Makapu'u hike is one of our absolute favorites...especially in the winter when you're almost guaranteed a humpback whale sighting. Today, after hiking to the lookout just above the lighthouse, we decided to explore a bit off the beaten path. Here's Will looking over to the beautiful lighthouse on the opposite cliff.
Here's me in front of Rabbit and Turtle Islands. Anyone who knows me knows that this is the closest I've ever been to a sheer cliff, hundreds of feet above the Pacific. Look how brave I am!!
Nice hair Will!!
There were four awesome WWII pillboxes at the top of the mountain. Some were in pretty good condition, all things considered. Here's Will peering into a rusty gun mount.
A pretty pristine pillbox!
What a glorious day for some explorin'!
