Will and I headed over to Makapuu this morning for another go at one of our favorite hikes on the island. Usually it's super private and empty, but today we had some company. Our first surprise was this huge monk seal, basking in the warm sun. Sleepy guy barely opened his eyes when we quietly and quickly hiked past him.
Here's Will trying his best to imitate the monk seal on the warm rocks near our tide pool.
Amazingly enough, there were other people on the hike today! We were shocked, because every time we've ever hiked in the past, the trail (and pool) are completely empty. Maybe it's because it was a late low tide...who knows.
Although we had to share our pool with another couple and their kids, Will and I still managed to have an AWESOME time, hiking, swimming and exploring.
